Bertrand CHARRON

Finding Your Ideal
Property in France & in Auvergne

Bertrand Charron (French) is a bilingual English–French interpreter/translator and real estate agent who relocated to the Auvergne region in 2003, after 9 years of living and working in Ireland as an international news correspondent & translator.

He was partly educated in the UK from an early age (Suffolk, then Leicester Univ.) and while in Ireland – he’s a keen fly fisherman & author of several TV documentaries on the topic… - married into an Irish family and has now two Franco-Irish children attending local schools here near Brioude.

The Auvergne is one of France’s best-kept secret, with properties and communities still maintaining their authenticity in some of the most beautiful landscapes in France: volcanoes, forests, lakes & rivers. Not to mention house prices which are still very attractive compared to other French regions. This provides a great location – half way between Paris and Barcelona (5 hours each way) – for those liking nature, hiking & climbing, skiing, fishing, kayaking, mushroom-picking, historical towns & villages, etc. and of course: ‘les fruits du terroir’ [traditional food and drinks, as we say here].

Furthermore, you’ll only be 3 hours’ drive to the Mediterranean coast thanks to the only free motorway (except for the Millau Bridge toll) in France (Clermont-Ferrand to Bézier). Living here not only gives you access to some of the largest great natural spaces still left in France, it means you can reach almost any French location in an afternoon or day’s drive.

Bertrand understands the needs of foreign investors and the relocation issues when moving into the area; and is happy to help you in your search for your ideal property (from village houses & small rural properties, barns to renovate, to castles & estate) and for any interpreting needs you may have.
